This was written six days ago but I have not been able to post. Great internet here.
Hello All!
Twenty months is how long it has been since our last trip. Well, that’s not counting our three night visit to Las Vegas July 13-16 so I guess I’ll tell you about that first. We went with our friends the Storeys, the Passells and the McMaster/Schaffers. I came home plus $100 so I’m happy.

Our 33rd anniversary was July 15th and it was quite a celebration. We went to see Shin Lim and he was absolutely amazing!!!! His magic with cards blows your mind; we all sat on the second and third rows center and couldn’t figure out how he could do what he did. If you have never seen or heard of him, do yourself a favor and look him up on Google or YouTube.

And then, KENYA
Now on to the main event: In honor of John’s 75th and my upcoming 75th, we are again celebrating with trips with our children and grandchildren. John’s kids and grandkids are joining us in Kenya, starting in Nairobi. The only sad part of this is the child who really got this going – Whitney – is not able to come with her family because Great Britain and Kenya are in a pissing match. In order for someone who is in the UK to come to Kenya, they must be out of England for two weeks prior to visiting. Well no one can just take off an extra two weeks…..so the Hawkings family is sadly missing the trip!
So John and I traveled three days before the kids – just to get the lay of the land…..and to be lazy! It is very amazing to be in a game park and be able to see the buildings of Nairobi and its lights at night. I do think it is the only game park that close to a city.

Our first safari stop is Ololo Safari Lodge and it is one beautiful place. In addition, lots of wildlife comes right up to our table….FUN!

John awakened the first morning at 7 (after getting to bed at 2 a.m.) and he came and awakened me at 10 – perfect. It was bright sunshine and warm and we just enjoyed ourselves.

The next morning we went on our first game drive – a really, really long one – five hours!!! Lots of sightings. By the way, many of the pictures that you will see are taken by John. He brought a real camera with a 40X zoom and I am using my iPhone 12, a good camera but limited zoom.

After our game drive and late breakfast we each had a massage; we both thought the Kenyan massage therapist, Anah, was terrific.

A lovely dinner with very oily hair finished the night:

We slept in again and then had a wonderful, fabulous happening. Unbeknownst to each other, Walt and Carla were traveling to Kenya at the same time we were and they happened to be spending one day in Nairobi while we were here. So they interrupted their game drive to join us for lunch. Can you believe it? We loved seeing them here, part way around the world!!!

We followed that with a tour of the grounds and the gardens:

We ended the day with another wonderful meal and time to write this blog. We were awaiting the arrival of our kids and grandkids……but that will be another story. Stay tuned!
Fondly,
Beth
